MY FIRST YEAR UTM EXPERIENCE

First Year Experience (FYE) is a compulsory programme for the first year student. The aim of this program is to develop civil engineering student to be more professional in communication, solving critical problem, group discussion. When I got the information about this programme, I think this programme should be so bored, first impression about this programme so negative. This is because all the other college do the FYE camp outside of UTM but our college just do this programme in UTM. First day of the camp I was attend the problem a bit late because im fall sleep after the class. First day camp, our dean was introduced the person that would handle the programme. First impression about the person, I think the person so straight and at night we was divide into group because he want us do the task in a team. I was separate from my friends. This make me to survive with myself. We get two task to complete it before the camp end. First task, we should build something from the things that can be reuse and all of us in group should give the best idea what should we build. Then we was agree to build a helicopter that call flying hybrid. This transport should be in the future. The helicopter use solar energy to flying around. This can reduce using of our earth sources. We gain the material from our room and the surrounding. We was give one hours and 30minutes to finish our project. After that we should give explain about our project. Second task, we should make a 5minutes video clip on what we do along the programme and all this thing was make me be more discipline on time management and be proactive in group. A lot of new soft skills  that I got from this programme. My first impression about this programme was change at the end of the programme.
