MY FIRST YEAR UTM EXPERIENCE
Hi……everybody.. I’m Asyraf Haiqal and I want to share a
little bit experience in UTM. University is one big learning experience. You
learn about your academic subject of course, but university also teaches you a
lot about life and provides unique opportunities that you would never get the
chance to experience anywhere else.
Going to university was something that I had always wanted
to do. Aside from gaining a degree that would benefit my future career, I
wanted to be able to say that I’d left home, survived on my own two feet, and
met loads of new people from different situations and cultures!
As an 19 years old, going to university was my first
experience of living away from home. Being in university halls was a good way
of being independent, while also being in a safe environment. It is also the
best way of meeting people in the same boat as you, the friends I made in halls
stayed with me throughout my time at UTM.
If I hadn’t have join orientation day, I would not had some
of the best experiences of my life. Nothing beats being thrown in the deep end
with other people that you’ve never met before and all having to learn how to
live on your own.
One of the biggest things for me was learning to manage my
own finances. Besides, I need to be smart manage my time. As for the benefits
to my future career, UTM has not just give me the qualifications to continue my
education, but it has also made me more confident by having to do things like
presentations. I now feel at ease when I have to stand up in front of people
and talk, which is a big part of communication skills.
Lastly, going to UTM was the best decision of my life so
far! It gives you to chance to grow up and become less dependent on parents,
meet loads and loads of new people and learn new things about something that
interest you! Be happy okay J
