TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

The rapid and constant pace of change in technology is creating both opportunities and challenges for schools.
The opportunities include greater access to rich, multimedia content, the increasing use of online coursetaking to offer classes not otherwise available, the widespread availability of mobile computing devices that can access the Internet, the expanding role of social networking tools for learning and professional development, and the growing interest in the power of digital games for more personalized learning.
Following is a look at some of the hottest technology that have been use in education  :

E-LEARNING

E-learning (or eLearning) is the use of electronic mediaeducational technology and information and communication technologies (ICT) in education. E-learning includes numerous types of media that deliver text, audio, images, animation, and streaming video, and includes technology applications and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and computer-based learning, as well as local intranet/extranet and web-based learning. Information and communication systems, whether free-standing or based on either local networks or the Internet in networked learning, underlie many e-learning processes.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

Many schools are no longer debating whether social networking should play a role in education. Instead, that debate has shifted to what social networking tools work best and how to deploy them. Some schools are using mainstream social networking tools, like Facebook, for everything from promoting school events to organizing school clubs as well as for more academic purposes related to assignments and class projects.

MOBILE COMPUTING

Increasing access, growing acceptance, and decreasing cost are all helping to make the use of mobile devices a popular and increasing trend within the world of educational technology.
While the digital divide between the affluent and disadvantaged still exists, mobile devices appear to have the potential to close it, at least in terms of access.

A SPECIAL DAY IN MY LIFE

Hari Raya Aidilfitri. It does happen every year but last year was the best one. It feel like an ordinary Raya ceremony for everyone else but seems to be special to me. My cousin that is just like my own brother celebrate Raya together with us. It seems to be like a year and a half that I have not see him because he is now study at Washington taking programming. I really miss him and when I get to see him during Raya with my family, his family, our grandma and grandpa, everything seems already perfect.

What make it more awesome is that he had a camera with him. So, we took a lot of picture. He even took revenge on me by taking my picture secretly because he know I am a type of a person that hate camera. But I did not mad at him because the last time he want to take picture with me, I keep saying no until at last I did not manage to say goodbye when he first time fly to Washington.

I just hope that we could celebrate Raya together again because for me it is so hard to have a family gathering these days since everyone is so busy with their work. This Raya is a special day in my life all just because we get to celebrate it together. ;)

MY FIRST YEAR UTM EXPERIENCE

Hi. My name is Najiha. This post is about my first year experience here in UTM Skudai. UTM is highly known because of engineering. My ambition is to become a great engineer. When I found out that I got to UTM which was my first choice, I was really happy. I know that my mom and dad seems to be worry about it. They were worry if I could not able to catch up in here.

During the first day I reach here, I feel happy, sad and even worry. I keep thinking whether I can survive or not. When my parents already say goodbye and my new roommate when out, I really do feel empty and thinking maybe I could never survive in here because I never am good in making friends. I suppose I never worry about whether I can catch up to study or not but I am more worry in fitting in with strangers.

But when orientation week begins, I guess it was not hard at all. You could say that I actually did not stick with anyone and called them as my close friend but I do enjoy knowing everyone. I never actually acting crazy and screaming and even dance along with the music. It was so fun and I wish I could do it again.

When the class already started, I am so scared to be leave alone but I guess I was wrong again because they surely are the best. Getting in here I suppose the best fate ever. I even learn how to speak louder, be more polite, be more helpful and be more friendly. They were right. Getting out of UTM with not only a roll of diploma but fill with soft skills.
